A Message To Our Athletic Community
Although Vintage athletics are followed by people throughout the town of Napa and beyond, the core of the Crusher community is the relationship among the coaches, athletes, and parents. The interaction among these three components resembles that of teachers, students, and parents.
Like the teacher, the coach’s focus should be on creating an environment that allows athletes the opportunity to succeed. Through actual teaching and role modeling, the coach promotes the values reflected in the athletic philosophy here at Vintage.
The classroom demands that our students dedicate themselves, pay attention to detail, and have a positive work ethic. Playing on an athletic team within the Vintage program has the same demands as the classroom because the fields, gyms, pools, etc. are in fact extensions of the classroom.
The role of the parent(s) is to support not only their own child, but to support the coach in his or her effort to promote the Vintage athletic philosophy. Just as the coach and athlete uphold the values of our philosophy, the same will be asked of the parents. Modeling good sportsmanship and an understanding that athletics are not about the individual-- but rather the team-- are essential in creating an environment for success.
